Weed description
A short annual with creeping or erect branches. Stems spreading, smooth, rooting at lower nodes. Leaf blade linear, glaucous, 1- 6 inches long ; ligule short and membranous. Spikes digitate, 2- 6, 1- ½ inches long. Spikelets arranged in two rows on one side of the axis, 3 – 5 flowered, glumes 5 – 7. First glume ovate and second glume ovate, slightly awned. The rest of the glumes are flowering glumes enclosing hermaphrodite flowers.
CONTROL
- Post emergence application of Quizalofop ethyl@ 60 g ai/ha is recommended during crop growth
- Intercultural operations reduce the incidence of the weed in tobacco in the initial stages
- Hand weeding regularly reduces the weed infestation
